Volgens een analyse van Gaslicht.com kunnen huishoudens met een variabel energiecontract momenteel flink besparen door over te stappen naar een vast contract. Voor een gemiddeld huishouden gaat het volgens Ben Woldring om ongeveer 300 tot 430 euro per jaar, omdat nieuwe vaste contracten vaak goedkoper zijn dan bestaande variabele contracten.
Volgens Gaslicht.com hebben 2,6 miljoen huishoudens een variabel contract, waarvan de tarieven twee keer per jaar stijgen. De gemiddelde kosten voor gas zijn in nieuwe variabele contracten 1,42 euro per kubieke meter, terwijl het bij een eenjarig vast contract 1,36 euro kost. Welkomstbonussen tot 440 euro verhogen de voordelen van switchen.
Het controleren van energiecontracten kan dit jaar significante besparingen opleveren; huishoudens met variabele contracten kunnen tot €430 per jaar besparen door over te stappen. Vanaf 1 juli verhogen energieleveranciers vaak hun variabele tarieven.
